Jan is a District 14 homeowner and attorney. He works with local small businesses, non-profit organizations, and municipalities in the areas of real estate, taxation, and general business law. He understands what residents and businesses need to make it through these tough times. Jan recently served on the board of the Bay View Neighborhood Association as Membership Chair and currently volunteers as pro-bono legal counsel for area non-profit organizations, including the Brewcity Bruisers roller derby league and as a board member of the Victory Garden Initiative, which promotes a healthy, sustainable local food system.
Jan studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and served for ten years in the Army Reserves. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Viterbo University and worked for several years as an accountant at two Milwaukee corporations before going on to earn his J.D. from Marquette University Law School. He is now in his tenth year of legal practice. Jan has helped a number of Bay View clients launch their businesses, acquire and lease real estate, navigate the downturn in the economy, and expand their operations. Jan and his girlfriend, Annie, enjoy their free time together frequenting neighborhood businesses and restaurants, volunteering at community events, developing their skills at growing vegetables in their front yard garden, and running, biking, or walking the district’s beautiful parks and lakeshore—often with their beagle mix, Lucy, in tow!
